Strategic Governance and Institutional Oversight

The Board of Management is the paramount statutory authority at Sikkim Skill University (SSU), entrusted with steering the University’s long-term strategic vision, governance framework, and policy formulation. The Board plays an instrumental role in ensuring that SSU achieves its mission of delivering high-quality, inclusive, and industry-aligned skill-based education.
Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, the Board comprises eminent educators, senior administrative leaders, government officials, and distinguished experts from academia and industry. This diverse and experienced membership provides comprehensive guidance on the University’s academic, financial, and administrative affairs. A quorum of two-thirds of members is required to conduct formal meetings.

1. Objectives of the Board of Management

• To uphold exemplary standards of governance, transparency, and accountability across all levels of the University.
• To steer the University’s growth in alignment with both state and national higher education priorities.
• To review, approve, and oversee institutional policies pertaining to academics, finance, administration, and infrastructure development.

2. Board of Management

• Policy and Strategic Planning:

  Develops, sanctions, and monitors comprehensive university-wide policies, strategic plans, and institutional objectives to guide sustainable growth.

• Academic Governance:

Evaluates and endorses recommendations from the Academic Council concerning academic regulations, program initiation, and curriculum development

• Financial Oversight:

  Approves the annual budget, financial reports, and capital investment strategies, ensuring fiscal prudence and accountability.

• Administrative Management:

  Reviews key administrative matters including appointments, service conditions, disciplinary actions, and organizational structure.

• Infrastructure Development:

  Authorizes major capital projects, land acquisitions, and the advancement of physical and digital infrastructure essential for academic and operational excellence.

• Regulatory Compliance:

  Ensures full adherence to the statutory requirements prescribed by bodies such as UGC, AICTE, PCI, and integrates government directives into institutional practices.

• Institutional Growth and Collaboration:

  Promotes strategic alliances with national and international educational institutions, industry partners, and research organizations to expand the University’s academic and research horizons.
