Sikkim Skill University functions under a well-structured governance framework comprising several key statutory bodies. These authorities oversee the academic, administrative, financial, and strategic planning functions of the University. Each body operates within defined roles and responsibilities to ensure the institution’s efficient management and continuous development in alignment with regulatory standards and the University’s mission.
The Governing Body serves as the apex authority and the principal decision-making body of the University. It is responsible for providing overall policy direction, governance oversight, and strategic leadership to ensure the effective functioning of SSU.
The Governing Body shall convene at least three (3) times annually. A quorum shall consist of two-thirds of its total members.
The Board of Management is the executive body responsible for the administrative and operational governance of the University. The Vice-Chancellor shall act as its Chairperson.
At least two-thirds of the total members shall constitute the quorum. The Secretary, Education Department, Government of Sikkim, or in their absence, the Director of Higher Education, shall attend all meetings where government policies or decisions requiring official input are discussed.
The Academic Council is the principal academic authority of the University and is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor. It is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of education, research, and academic administration across all disciplines.
The composition, quorum, and procedures of the Academic Council shall be as specified by the Statutes of the University.
The Planning Board acts as the central strategic planning body of the University. It is responsible for aligning infrastructure development, academic expansion, and support systems with the guidelines set by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and relevant statutory bodies.
The constitution, tenure, powers, and responsibilities of the Planning Board shall be defined as per the University's Statutes and applicable regulations.
In addition to the aforementioned bodies, SSU may establish other statutory authorities as deemed necessary. The composition, powers, and functions of such bodies shall be outlined and governed in accordance with the University's Statutes and applicable legal provisions.
